As we cannot physically test every possible printer model, we have to reply on the technical specs to make these recommendations. It's very important to read through the printer model's Technical Specification Sheet / Data Sheet before making a purchasing decision. This should always be available on the printer model's web page on the manufacturers website. If you are purchasing or leasing from a retailer specializing in printing equipment, the sales staff are typically very knowledgeable. Having said that, there are some criteria that are quite important to consider when using with Make It! Personal:
-
Auto duplexing (2-sided printing). Most will only AUTO duplex standard sizes like service folders, but not custom sizes like the register books (you can still manually duplex)… however, some higher end models can AUTO duplex these! (Hint: look at the spec sheet!)
Printers to avoid:
HP Officejet series, esp. 8600 series –– they do not offer custom paper sizes. Most other HP Laserjets work great.
Canon, Xerox, and Savin/Ricoh/Aficio –– these usually want custom sizes entered on the printer as well as in the software, and generally have confusing, non-intuitive software interfaces.
Here are a few example printer models that some of our customers are using successfully:
HP Laserjet 452 series
HP Laserjet 553 Series
HP Laserjet CP4025 series
Kyocera TASKalpha series MFPs
